UMCOR "Cleaning Kits" (flood buckets)

Our mission at Epworth is to share with ALL the transforming love of Jesus Christ

Following is a list of supplies we’d like to gather so that we can help the West Virginia UMC production and distribution of emergency UMCOR Cleaning Kits (aka “flood buckets”). At our Annual Conference in June 2025, delegates (and therefore congregations) were challenged to collect materials for a thousand flood buckets, to be given out in places like Fairmont WV, where there has recently been deadly flash flooding. We learned at Annual Conference that the West Virginia Conference provided some 900 flood buckets to people in need after Hurricane Helene, and another 600 to people after Hurricane Milton. Our warehouse outside Beckley currently has about 900, and those are going to go quickly.

Will you purchase and provide selected items from the following list, and bring them to Epworth before July 15?

Please purchase and provide what you feel comfortable spending.
These lists are very specific so that hundreds of buckets can be assembled somewhat uniformly. If you wish to purchase several of one item on the list, or one or several of all items on the list, that is up to you. We anticipate that distributing these purchases among the congregation will allow us to assemble a dozen or more complete buckets.

Last Name A – D

- One bottle 32-64 oz liquid laundry detergent

- Two pairs kitchen gloves (loose is fine)

- One pair cotton or leather work gloves

Last Name E – J

- One bottle 16-40 oz liquid concentrate household cleaner (no spray bottles)

- 18 re-usable cleaning wipes (no terrycloth, microfiber, or paper towels)

- 36-50 clothespins

- 50-100 feet cotton or plastic clothesline

 

Last Name K – M 

- 5 gal bucket (new) w/ lid

- One bottle 16-34 oz liquid dish soap

- One pump spray 6-14 oz insect repellant (or 10-20 wipes)

 

Last Name O – Z 

- Five scouring pads (no stainless steel or pads with soap)

- 24 roll of heavy duty trash bags (33-45 gal)

- One scrub brush

- One pump spray 4-8 oz air freshener
